International School of Leuven

Growing International Minds with Community Hearts

Welcome!

We realise that choosing a school for your child is a difficult decision. We realise that no website can truly reflect the feeling of a school learning community. However, we hope that we can give you information that will help you and your family with this important decision, and give you an insight into our vibrant school.

Here at ISL, we strive to be more than a school. We offer each student an education that helps to develop them academically, personally, creatively and independently. We guide our students towards fulfilling responsible, happy and productive lives in society. Individualised learning programs reflect the diverse learning experiences of our international students, whilst our Dutch language classes provide opportunities for integration into, not only the language, but also the culture of Belgium.

The best way to get a true feeling about our wonderful school is to visit us in person, so please contact us to arrange a visit.

We look forward to welcoming you to our learning community!

A little about ISL

Facing the world of tomorrow, we want to value the languages and culture of Belgium as a learning resource.

We offer a safe, child-centered learning environment which allows your child to become an independent, creative and reflective problem-solver.   Students develop the skills they need for life and are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning.

As ISL staff, we consider it our mission to create a joyful, safe and inspirational learning environment that will enable young learners to reach their full educational and personal potential. This will help them to become self-confident and respectful world citizens.

Early Years

(from 2.5 to 6 years)

We foster a sense of family where each child can flourish emotionally, socially and academically.

“Play is the work of children” through which they develop communication, problem solving skills, cognitive growth, imagination, leadership skills, perseverance and social collaboration.

Primary

(from 6 to 12 years)

At ISL we encourage our children to become thinkers and problem solvers. Through challenging tasks that require more than just knowledge based learning we build on curiosity and foster enquiry.

Throughout the Primary years, children consolidate their existing skills working towards clear, individualised learning goals.
